Weather Alert: Tsunami Advisory (January 15, 2022)

Event: The Vanuatu Meteorology and Geo-Hazards Department (VMGHD) has issued a Tsunami Advisory for Vanuatu following an undersea volcanic eruption near Tonga. Destructive tsunami waves estimated between 1-2.5 meters have been observed in parts of Vanuatu. The VMGHD advises tsunami waves are expected to remain possible along coastlines throughout Vanuatu tonight and advises people throughout Vanuatu to listen to Radio Vanuatu and all other radio outlets for further information. Actions to Take:

If near coastlines, move to higher ground.
Seek secure shelter.
Monitor local media for updates.
