U.S. Citizen Services

Welcome to the Consular Section of the U.S. Embassy in Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. The American Citizen Services Unit offers a broad range of services to U.S. citizens in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu. These services include: passport services, notarials, travel enrollment, Consular Reports of Birth Abroad, voting in U.S. elections, various federal benefits, and more. In addition, ACS assists U.S. citizens in emergency situations including arrests, deaths, and other crises. The American Citizen Services Unit is open for routine appointments on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9:00-11:00 a.m.

U.S. citizens living or traveling abroad in Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu are encouraged to enroll in the Smart Traveller Enrollment Program (STEP). STEP is a free service to allow U.S. citizens and nationals traveling and living abroad to enroll their trip with the nearest U.S. Embassy or Consulate. The Embassy uses STEP to provide important information to the U.S. citizen community in these three countries, and it provides updated contact information in the event the Embassy needs to reach you.
