Message to U.S. Citizens in PNG: Consular Services & Outreach Events in Eastern Highlands Province on October

U.S. Embassy Port Moresby is pleased to announce consular services and outreach events in Eastern Highlands Province on Thursday, October 1st. The events will be held at the Ukarumpa and Lapilo Centre communities. Due to transportation requirements, the events are subject to suitable weather / flying conditions.

U.S. citizens interested in receiving consular services are advised to read this notice in its entirety for information on service fees and documentary requirements.

PAYMENT AND REQUIREMENTS FOR CONSULAR SERVICES

Please note that U.S. citizens who wish for passports and supporting documents to be returned to a location other than Ukarumpa or Lapilo Centre must come to the respective event with a pre-paid courier envelope pre-addressed to a preferred location within PNG.

Fee payments for the consular services below must be paid in advance or on site through one of the following methods:

  • Any service: At the U.S. Embassy on September 21, 23, or 28 from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm. Payment may be made by the applicant or a representative. Cash and credit cards may be accepted. U.S. citizens who have accounts with NTM or SIL may arrange payment through those organizations’ personnel managers and government representatives in Port Moresby. Facemasks are required at the Embassy.
  • Any service: On site at the respective outreach event with a bank check in the exact amount of the service(s) to be provided. Cash and credit cards WILL NOT be accepted on the day of the events. Change will not be available and payment in excess of the prescribed amounts will not be accepted.
  • For renewal of 10-year adult passports onlyOnline using a credit card, debit card, PayPal, or Amazon Pay. Please come to the event with printed payment confirmation.

Adult Passport Renewal Requirements

  • 385 Kina paid in advance or on site via any of the methods above
  • Applicant’s 10-year adult U.S. passport and a photocopy of the passport biographic page
  • 2” by 2” (5cm x 5cm) passport photo with white background, no glasses, and natural expression
  • Completed and signed Form DS-82

    (printed single-sided)

First Adult Passport (16 years old and up) Requirements

  • 508 Kina paid in advance at the Embassy or on site with a bank check
  • Applicant’s minor U.S. passport and a photocopy of the passport biographic page
  • 2” by 2” (5cm x 5cm) passport photo with white background, no glasses, and natural expression
  • Presence of at least one parent if the applicant is less than 18 years old
  • Completed Form DS-11

    (printed single-sided), DO NOT sign until requested to do so by the consular officer administering the oath

Minor Passport Renewal Requirements

  • 403 Kina paid in advance at the Embassy or on site with a bank check
  • Applicant’s minor U.S. passport and a photocopy of the passport biographic page
  • Applicant’s U.S. birth certificate or Consular Report of Birth Abroad and a photocopy of the birth document
  • Both parents’ U.S. passports or government issued IDs and photocopies of the IDs
  • Presence of both parents; if only one parent can be present, the applying parent must present a pre-completed and pre-notarized statement of consent from the non-applying parent via a Form DS-3053

Consular Report of Birth Abroad

  • 753 Kina (includes passport fee) paid in advance at the Embassy or on site with a bank check
  • Applicant’s original PNG birth certificate and a photocopy
  • If applicable, parents’ original marriage certificate and photocopy
  • Evidence of parent(s) U.S. citizenship (U.S. passport, original U.S. birth certificate, U.S. naturalization certificate, etc.)
  • Evidence of the U.S. citizen parent(s) physical presence or residence in the United States prior to the child’s birth which may include school records, employment, tax, bank, and medical records, utility bills, rent receipts, or other official public documents
  • Evidence of termination of any previous marriages of the parents (divorce annulment or decree or death certificate)
  • Both parents’ passports or government issued IDs and photocopies (passports are strongly preferred)
  • Completed Form DS-2029

  • Completed Form DS-11

    (printed single-sided), DO NOT sign until requested to do so by the consular officer administering the oath

We cannot process applications for lost/stolen passports during outreach events.

Notarial Services

  • 175 Kina, per seal applied. Documents related to federal benefits or specifically required by a U.S. federal, state, or tribal government for an official purpose can be notarized at no cost (e.g., Social Security documents, Selective Service registration, etc).
  • Government-issued ID and presence of the person signing the document(s)

Voter Assistance
