Embassy of the United States of America to Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu

The National Disaster Council of the Government of Solomon Islands announced a 36-hour lockdown of the Honiara Emergency Zone, from 6 p.m. Sunday, August 29th to 6 a.m. Tuesday, August 31, 2021.  The announcement describes the lockdown as a trial of the revised lockdown plan, to maintain alertness and improve response capabilities, if community transmission of COVID-19 is detected.  A lockdown guide, produced by the Solomon Islands Chamber of Commerce and Industry, is attached to this message.

Due to the lockdown, the U.S. Consular Agency in Honiara will be closed Monday, August 30, 2021.
