Embassy Port Moresby is pleased to announce the 2018 Alumni Engagement Innovation Fund (AEIF) competition. The State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA) manages the AEIF competition, which offers alumni of U.S. government-sponsored exchange programs the opportunity to propose innovative projects that address strategic foreign policy themes. Alumni are invited to submit project ideas through the International Exchange Alumni website (https://alumni.state.gov) between March 1 and March 28, 2018.
Alumni teams may request up to $25,000 to implement project proposals. Detailed program information, guidelines, budget requirements, and proposal forms are located on the AEIF Helpdesk and in the Exchange Alumni@State community. All proposals must be submitted by 14:00 Eastern Standard Time on Thursday, March 29, 2018. Proposals selected for funding will be announced in mid-June.
All submitted projects must address one of the five U.S. foreign policy themes:
· Fostering Economic Prosperity
· Building Civic Participation, Good Governance, and Resilient Communities
· Advancing Science, Technology, Health and Innovation
· Promoting Inclusion and Educational Opportunity
· Empowering Women and Girls
AEIF’s goal is to help alumni develop and implement projects that support U.S. foreign policy objectives, promote shared interests, and benefit local communities. In FY2017, out of more than 1,000 submissions worldwide, 68 proposals were selected for funding and announced as winners on the IEA website.
Please contact the U.S. Embassy Port Moresby Public Affairs Section with any questions you may have. We hope to assist, meet with, and encourage alumni teams to better understand the project competition.
