Ambassador-designate Ann Marie Yastishock arrived in Port Moresby to begin her service as U.S. Ambassador

Today, Ambassador-designate Ann Marie Yastishock arrived in Port Moresby to begin her service as U.S. Ambassador to Independent State of Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Republic of Vanuatu.

Ambassador Yastishock previously served as Senior Deputy Assistant Administrator in the Bureau for Asia at USAID, as USAID Mission Director in Hanoi, Vietnam, and as the Chief Advisor to the Acting Administrator and Chief Operating Officer for USAID.  Ambassador Yastishock’s appointment is a strong affirmation of the Biden Administration’s commitment to deepening our bilateral relationship with the people of Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands, and Vanuatu.

Ambassador Yastishock was nominated by President Joe Biden on July 11, 2022, confirmed by the U.S. Senate on November 29, 2023, and had her swearing in ceremony on January 10, 2024.
